The Taoyuan City Government has been dedicated to improving the ecology and environment of the Nankan River. In recent years, night herons, a species serving as an indicator of purity of water, are frequently spotted by birdwatchers at the Nankan River area. This work by HSU Tsung-chieh, located at the embankment of the Nankan River at the Guangming Riverside Park in the Luzhu District, features the unique posture and color of a night heron, standing on the embankment and staring at the Nankan River, which has gone through thorough changes. The murmuring stream of the Nankan River highlights the theme of harmony and co-existence between mankind and the Nature.
