Tea Serving

Tea Serving

The song "Hakka World" by Hakka Television fully expresses the Hakka culture and spirit. It depicts the grandfather playing the huqin (a traditional Chinese bowed instrument), the grandmother singing mountain songs, and enjoying a harmonious and joyful leisurely life. The lyrics contain a line that says, "Clear river flows to the sea, over time my homeland becomes my native place, no matter where you come from, I am a modern Hakka, a Hakka of the world." I am determined to work hard and unite with others to create a Hakka world, where Hakka people embrace the optimistic and persevering spirit and strive towards the world. Nowadays, Hakka people are spread all over the world, and there are Hakka people from Taiwan in various countries. The work is inspired by the Hakka people's hospitality, welcoming guests to their homes for warm chats and tea-drinking.

Xu Min-sheng

I grew up in the rural area of Puli, Nantou. I attended vocational school for mechanical studies, specialized in graphic design at the college level, and pursued interior design at the university.

In the year 1997 of the Republic of China, I participated in the National Traditional Arts Center's Li Ronglie Bamboo Weaving Training Program, which marked the beginning of my connection with bamboo weaving and craftsmanship.
In 2000, I realized the cultural value and importance of preserving bamboo weaving traditions. Consequently, I decided to abandon my previous occupation and dedicate myself entirely to bamboo weaving creation and teaching, making my contribution to the preservation of this traditional art.

In 2006 of the Republic of China, I established the "Sheng Zhi Hua Taiwan Bamboo Art Gallery," engaging in the exhibition, sales, teaching, and development of bamboo crafts, as well as designing bamboo installations for public art. Guided by the belief of preserving ancient art while embracing innovation, I aim to introduce Taiwan's bamboo craft culture to more enthusiasts and the wider public.

As one of the few artists skilled in bamboo weaving crafts, bamboo furniture, and bamboo material installation art, I have received numerous awards and accumulated substantial experience in domestic and international exhibitions, exchanges, and teaching engagements.
