Stone Path

Stone Path

Taoyuan is a culturally diversified city and a gateway connecting Taiwan and the world. Written language, however, is an important element for passing on heritages in a cultural context. The new English calligraphy created by Xu Bin is a new system that combines parts of the Chinese characters with English writing, demonstrating a seemingly conflicting yet harmonious beauty just like ethnic groups of diversified cultures co-habiting in Taoyuan.

His work, Stone Path, showcases over 80 pieces of stones engraved with Chinese characters in his new English calligraphy from poems by Bai Juyi, Tsangyang Gyatso and Cui Jian, which are arranged to form poems on the ground.
